המרכז הרפואי לגליל, המסונף לפקולטה לרפואה בעזריאלי אוניברסיטת בר אילן, עבר מהפך אקדמי ורפואי דרמטי, המעניק שירותים חדשים וחדשניים לתושבי הפריפריה הצפונית של ישראל. בעשור האחרון נפתחו במרכז הרפואי לגליל כעשרים מחלקות, יחידות ומכונים חדשים כגון: המחלקה הנוירוכירורגית היחידה בגליל, יחידת אנגיוגרפיה מוחית, מחלקת פה ולסת, מחלקת מיון מחוזקת, קרדיולוגיה מחוזקת. מחלקה, יחידה להפריה חוץ גופית (IVF), אגף שיקום; יחידה לכירורגית כף היד, האגף לבריאות האישה, מרכז סימולציה רפואית, מכון מחקר רפואי, יחידה נוירורדיולוגיה, יחידה למיקרוכירורגיה ועוד.
לא מדובר רק בפתיחת מחלקות ויחידות חדשות ומתן שירותים, אלא ביצירת שינוי משמעותי המשלב מצוינות, חדשנות, מקצועיות וחתירה בלתי פוסקת אחר טיפול רפואי מתקדם.

The Research Institute at the Galilee Medical Center, headed by Prof. Chaim Putterman, Associate Dean for Research at the Azrieli School of Medicine at Bar-Ilan University, brings together different clinical and scientific disciplines to enhance our understanding of the pathobiology of human disease and promote efforts to improve health through cutting edge translational research. Besides the research happening within its own laboratories, the Research Institute promotes basic and clinical research throughout the medical center, and provides medical and advanced degree graduate students with advanced scientific education and training.
